At a funeral, what you want above all is to have the space to focus on what matters most at that moment: being together, sharing memories and saying goodbye to a loved one. It brings peace of mind when the memorial service, the reception and the gathering afterwards can all take place at a single venue.
Stadbroekermolen is a charming funeral venue in Sittard, set in green and historic surroundings. The listed watermill offers a range of spaces to suit the different stages of a farewell. Together with the family and, if required, the funeral director, we will work out a plan that reflects the personality of the deceased, the guests and the wishes for the day.
We use our historic Granary for memorial services. This characterful space offers a peaceful and warm setting for a personal farewell.
Depending on your requirements and the programme for the day, the Graanschuur can be combined with the adjacent marquee. This creates extra space and allows the various parts of the farewell to flow into one another naturally.
In fine weather, a memorial service can also be held outdoors in our French garden. Surrounded by greenery and the historic buildings of Stadbroekermolen, this creates a special and serene setting in which to say goodbye together.
As the memorial service and the gathering afterwards can take place at the same venue, family and guests do not need to travel in between. This brings a sense of calm on a day when there is already so much to take in for everyone.
After the memorial service, people often feel the need to stay together for a while. To talk to one another, share memories and have something to eat or drink together.
The Garden Room and the Miller’s Hall can be arranged for this purpose. Depending on the weather, the guests and the desired atmosphere, the gathering can also take place under our attractive stretch marquee or in the courtyard. This allows each part of the farewell to have its own setting, whilst family and guests remain in the same location.
The programme can range from a traditional Limburg coffee table with coffee, tea and vlaai to lunch, drinks or another culinary option. We’ll discuss in advance what suits the family, the guests and the schedule for the day.
No farewell is the same. Photographs, music, flowers, personal items and words from family and friends can help to make a memorial service personal.
Visuals and music can also form part of the service. Where audiovisual equipment is required, we work in collaboration with a specialist partner. This partner takes care of the technical arrangements and, where desired, coordinates these directly with the family and/or the funeral director involved.
By ensuring that all the arrangements are properly co-ordinated in advance, the family will have the space on the day itself to focus on saying their goodbyes.
When organising a funeral, there is a great deal to arrange in a short space of time. That is why we take the time beforehand to discuss your wishes at your leisure. Where necessary, we work with our specialist partner for audiovisual equipment.
